There are people with cash and credit. Sites like http://www.BlackFridayAds2009.info will tell them where the deasl are before, during and after Black Friday - and they will buy. The economy is not too bad - the government spending beyond their means is the problem. Consumers are ok.

RE: Pizza and Cupcakes Keep 'em Coming to 7-Eleven as Cigarette Business Sl

If you've ever done a lot of business traveling off the interstate highway system, and I have, 7-Eleven is an oasis. I'd try the pizza as I'm using the facilities and grabbing a beverage. It's a what-the-heck equation. I might not be a steady customer, but, when I'm on the road, it remains a possibility.

-- Mike

I've always been impressed with 7-Eleven's marketing and ability to roll with the punches. Not sure I'd buy a pizza there but they have good coffee and better fresh food options for people on the go.

Next to impossible. Walmart will keep battling Amazon over books, but the promotions will keep changing and that would undermine any real argument about corner the market on books. They'll concentrated on certain classes of books and move on. Avoidance might be the best strategy for the booksellers.

-- Mike

I can see that Wall Street and Main Street have a long way to go to merge perspectives. The way Tractor Supply treats its customers says more than charts and graphs. Get on the web and read the comments of people disgusted by this company. If this is how the company treats the people it relies on for its profit, I can imagine what the corporate culture might be. Word travels fast on the digital highway. Tractor Supply may well want to clean up its sidewalk on Main Street before peddling its fertilizer to the investment community.

I bought a Straight Talk phone from Wal-mart with unlimited talk, texts and data for $45per month and it's great. I'm getting great reception because Straight Talk is running on Verizon's network nationwide so I don't have to worry about paying extra for roaming or long distance. Wal-mart is looking good, I will definitely start shopping there more.
