RE: July Sales: So Long, Stimulus Gains

While there is little doubt that current economic factors are affecting some consumers, the results of many retailers are being influenced to a greater degree by the content of their inventory. A number of very prominent retailers have simply forgotten who their Core Customers are and what those customers expect from them. Those retailers who have stayed in focus on what merchandise their Core Customers want are prospering and appear to have elected not to participate in the economic downturn. These retailers will continue to produce excellent results no matter the condition of the economy.

RE: July Sales: So Long, Stimulus Gains

Current economic factors are affecting most consumers. The very prominent retailers haven't simply forgotten who their core customers are. They hooked them long ago and the economy has awakened most of them to the reality of economic factors that surround them. The retailers need their consumers but there's not much left to go around for that short term profit they thrive upon.

As people make less, which most do with the sour economy we are in, the less the retailers will pull in. Credit is pushed to the limit, nationally and personally, and retailers still expect profit, even after the government tax break is "over". Time for reality to set in because we're all in this together.
