    Where Are the Payoffs?

After all, GM is still losing money. The bottom line is the only valid check of whether GM's re-engineering is working. It has not worked.

Cost cutting is fine, but there must be more!

The US automaker's efforts seem to be a day late and a dollar short. I am not sure at all that they can turn around their companies and become truely competitive in the US, nor the world auto-markets.

They seem to miss the real point, drivers need cars that are more dependable and can get MUCH BETTER GAS MILEAGE and Alternative FUELS! This must be their prime objective. They seem to focus on Electronic Gadgets at a premium price: Satellite Radio, GPS with Live Traffic, DVDs, etc,etc.. But their combined gas mileage average over the next 10 years will still be below the current Japanese auto-companies!

Can?t we refocus NASA ($5 BILLION Budget!) and temporarily put a hold on Space Travel and have them work on Energy solutions?

Maybe we lost all our great engineers and scientists when we started losing our production jobs, and we should just now focus on being farmers!
