RE: Three Strategies for Better Work-Life Balance
I have a job that is far bigger than me. By that I mean that the amount of work there is to do is far more than the hours there are to do it in. I admit that part of it's of my own making, so for the last few months my refrain has been: "no new ideas". That's because I am the ideas-girl and as my partner lovingly says: "darling you just bring it all on yourself".
Here's the point though. Most of the things I read about how to get more life into the work-life balance equation really only affect things incrementally. What I want is MUCH more life. Not just a bit more. So frankly, I'm still trying to figure out how to leave the 9 to 5 and still pay the bills... -

Point 2 is true. When you free yourself from things you have more time to enjoy life.
Long ago when I used to give big deal of my time to what I wear and how I look, I felt 1/2 of my life is shopping and the other is work. But now when I started freeing my life from giving big deal to silly things and focus on keeping things as pure and simple as possible and just shut the laptop when I come back home, I feel life is under control.
It is so simple, work is work, home is home, party is party, yoga is yoga. Give every single thing the time it needs without letting it interfere with the other. This way you will definitely feel the real test life.

Get to know your body and listen to it: the physical and emotional symptoms that signals that it's time to STOP!
Learn to say: NO! Be confident when you say it, and you'll be surprised how others will respect you for it.
Follow your passions. Laugh. Breathe. Share. Love. -

Make the "life" part of the equation a higher priority. I have kids, and when I go home, I would be doing my family a great injustice if I was distracted by two things from work while I'm reading about Things One and Two, ya know?

RE: Three Strategies for Better Work-Life Balance
I'm doing a little research for a piece I'm going to write about work, how we feel about it, the balance we want but probably don't have and other related topics. I've created a short questionnaire to help me flesh out some ideas and I'd really appreciate it if you would either complete it yourself and/or send it to others who would perhaps complete it.
The survey should only take around 10 to 15 minutes for most people to complete, is totally online in a secure environment, and participants are anonymous unless they choose to provide their contact details at the end.
Here's the link to my work-life-balance-and-happiness survey. http://tiny.cc/VHaxj
