Web Conferencing: (Not) Everyone's Doing It
I saw a Gartner report that implied that Microsoft's release of LiveMeeting with
Live Communications Server would also contribute to market growth and that
this could cause the "on-premise" sector to grow more rapidly than the hosted
for a few years. The penetration has been estimated at lower than 35% by other
analysts as well. One possible reason for slow adoption is the difficulty in
getting the download through firewalls and antivirus checkers. One interesting
approach is the Web 2.0 based browser approach like the one used in the RHUB
TurboMeeting product (www.rhubcom.com). This should make it a lot easier to
get into a meeting.
