    Collaboration Tool Are The Key

    This is a very interesting look at talent develoment.

    As high potential employees move into management roles, they are often very equipped for the jobs of the employees they manage. Unfortunately, they are less equipped to facailitate learning for those same employees. The conceptual fluency and skills needed for the job are so intuitive to them, that it is difficult for them to coach others to the excellence that came so easy to them. What's more, they are accustomed to being able to quickly solve problems in their own area of expertise, yet find themselves in more complex situations where they are "facilitating problem solving" rather than coming up with solutions on their own.

    By providing structure, process, training and tools for problem solving, group decision making, and generating innovative ideas, companies can equip these top performers as effective strategists, leaders and mentors for others.

    As you noted, the study by IBM found that only 14% of businesses are comfortable adapting to change. Today's businesses are operating in an environment where change is happening more rapidly than ever. For future success to occur the next generation of leaders must be adaptable.
