I love how PR week is keeping a running tally of the score and then expects PR mavens not to solicit votes!

RE: PRWeek Creates a Monster With PR Blog Contest
Ugh. I received a nearly incoherent email last week from a PR person trying to win this very contest. Two problems with her "pitch" to me:
1. To my recollection, I only worked with this PR person once and I don't even remember what the story was. Thus, I didn't really remember who she was and there was no attempt made to remind me.
Effect: No incentive to help her out.
2. I didn't know this PR person had a blog. Instead of giving me some background, i.e., telling me what her blog was about and why it's such a great PR resource, she merely tried to appeal to my gender: vote for me, I'm one of only a few women.
Effect: Even less desire to help her out.
To me, this contest and the behavior of the contestants is completely representative of what's wrong with the way PR people approach their jobs. -
