A couple of weeks ago, I had a good talk with two journalists recently turned flacks. Money was somewhat an issue, but they also liked the better hours, the fact that you work within a team, and the chance to shape events rather than covering them - all things I've heard before. They certainly were not looking back.

I too joined the dark side, but from the production department. It seems that designers are the first to be cut when times are hard, because "being a designer is easy" and it's no big deal to double the work load. I also got tired of sales weasels who knew nothing about creating effective, intellegent ads, nothing about marketing, nothing about the product, yet made all the money and took all the credit for my designwork.
Give me some time to build a client base and let's see who has happier clients.

I also joined the dark side from the news room where you deliver a story and most pf the work is self initiative and i have learnt over time that working under minimum supervision has helped me cope in the dark side .
