  As a comms professional, I find it fascinating that many business prefer to hire journalists to manage the comms of their businesses rather than communications managers. These businesses seem to have a very naive (and narrow) view about what business comms actually is (and entails if it's done correctly), and are swayed by the "sexy portfolio" of the journo.
