    The Buzzword Game

According to a senior fellow at Gartner (a former boss of mine), the analysts play "The Buzzword Game" when being briefed as a group. Everyone takes out their blackberry and SMSs the other analysts every buzzword that the presenter uses. The analyst who spots the most buzzwords wins.

Lesson: avoid buzzwords if you want analysts to take you seriously.

The irony, of course, is that analysts are themselves some of the worst jargonistas in the business world.
