  why did Yahoo Auctions fail?

  I'll tell you why. because they charged NO listing fees!!
  
  Which meant that sellers listed things at ridiculously high prices, repeatedly, since there was no loss to them to do so. You'd see the same items listed over and over again at the same price. As far as the sellers were concerned, maybe someday some idiot will pay my price and until then I lose nothing.
  
  There were, consequently, few real bargains on the site. Plus, it was not as advanced and harder to use than Ebay.
  
  It's hardly surprising.

  Yahoo had an auction site?

  Maybe if I knew it existed I could have helped push Yahoo's auction site over the 330,000 mark! I am all over Yahoo every day and I never knew they had an auction site. That means their fee schedule is probably not the only reason the site failed.
