RE: BNET Poll: How Is the Financial Crisis Directly Impacting Your Job?

We are actully looking for stratigic aquisisitons that benefit both parties economically and have our first almost complete. The IT/IS industry is being impacted more directly every day. However, with the advent of Managed IT Services for SMB, we have seen growth and we are using that as a leverage point to help our clients manage and control IT costs. We make it a "no brainer" to go to managed services. For us, the margins are such that we have full control over the pricing, up 300% with some a few of our offerings. If you are in the South West Florida area, call 941-721-6423 to learn more.

I find that for every problem that is raised by the 'crisis' there are two opportunities. Business is booming.

Corporate greed and US addiction to energy and luxuries will make this kind of financial crisis come again and again every X years, hard to really tell how often, but sure to happen again.
Regards from a non US reader.

My boss said: Sell more and reduce cost!!! so easy ... I ask myself: why did I spent so much time studying when I already new the answer to this question many years ago?

SAlary suspended until cash flow improves, but together we decided that for the lower grade staff we agree for them to have at least an inflation adjustment only. We also tighten up the accountability in term of value creation of each individual and establish a grace period of low performing individuals to improve their performance. We are an already ever cost-conscious organization so doing more with less is already a way of doing thing.

RE: BNET Poll: How Is the Financial Crisis Directly Impacting Your Job?

We've had the first few rounds of 2009 budgeting for new projects and were told to pare back more than last year, although a few high-priority (not to mention big-ticket) projects still have strong support and aren't being cut back, at least not yet.

And despite record revenues this year, we were already told to expect far less than last year in the way of salary increase and bonus. I work for a privately-held business and the talk is that the Partners have taken losses with their personal investnents so want to take a larger share than they did last year to offset that, leaving less for the supporting organizations. Oh well, at least this industry pays well and provides a greater degree of job security than most so I'm counting my blessings.
