How to deal with a bad boss
This describes what I have dealt with for 4 yrs. My boss has been repressive, condescending, extremely over critical and I rarely get any positive feedback from him.
He was also the only reason I have received poor reviews, regardless of any and all efforts on my part to be a "better" employee in his eyes. Nothing is good enough.
Fortunately, I thought, he decided to leave the company earlier this year. Now that he has moved to another city he is still acting as the "instructor" to my new boss. He has also finagled his way into being involved in my departments annual review. This is simply Not good! I am very put out and frustrated over this.
My new manager IS a great manager. My fear is that his word on my review will not carry the weight of this "longstanding" manager in the review process. Last years review was so bad it made me sick, and I am a good and productive team player! I fear the same this year. In fact last year was the first in decades I received no raise and was denied a possible very large bonus.
I listened to this discussion and it talks about all of these types of encroachments and poor managerial disability. I will share it with my new manager so he may more fully understand the legitimate fears I have at this time. In fact, I may recommend this as a good place for anyone to go for pertinent work related information.
Thanks!
