Reduce GRPS use as well
Something else that can extend the battery a little on most modern phones:
By default most phones are configured to connect to GPRS the moment it is available no matter if you're using it or not.(the 'G' symbol appears permanently on screen). If this is set to "When needed" as opposed to "always on"/"when available" it is possible with some phones to save a half a day of battery.
Normally the GRPS settings can be found within the Network or data connection settings on most phones (On Nokia phones this is under the heading packet data within connections).
