  Our company just dgitized about 30 years of file cabinets by using the IRA and FDA guidlines for document retension. We hired 2 high school students part time for about $8.00 per hour each. Using a multipage scanner and PaperPort in less than 6 months we are about 80% completed. They are stored on a intanet share file. Thr day they started the scan project, all offices were required to scan documents and discard the paper copy. We have freed up about 3 rooms of file cabinets thus far. When I open a customer digital file, it appears as a file cabinet with the same filing system that I used when I physically opened the file drawer. Life is so much easier and documents are at my fingertips 24/7 since I can connect to our VPN even when I am in Europe. All of this without shipping one box from our office and no monthly fee when we complete the project!
