Word 4.0 was perfect, dowhill ever since
There was a moment, sometime during the early 1990s, when MS Word was a perfect wordprocessor. It had just enough features to be versatile, but it was simple enought to use effectively -- and the entire program fit on a single floppy disc. Did I just say floppy disc? I must be getting old.

What a relief!
Thank you, from the bottom of my heart. I've been using word processing software for 20 years now, and the more they "improve" the worse they get. Thanks for the links to tips to the features that annoy me most about Word.
