Symphony Encore
Very interesting - Lotus released Symphony in 1985 or 1986, well before Windows 1.0. It was the first integrated, multiple window spreadsheet. It had a robust command language and a nicer interface than 123. It's interesting that IBM has chosen to launch a new product with the old Symphony name, essentially going after the same space as the product from nearly a quarter century ago, albeit with updated technology.

RE: Replace Pricey Microsoft Office with Free Lotus Symphony 1.0
I just read this article and was wondering how well this software would work with Microsoft applications. Does it integrate well with those who are using Microsoft Suite?

Absolutely
Ah, can't believe I forgot to mention that. Yes, Symphony offers full file compatibility with Microsoft Office (2003 and earlier -- though I imagine it's just a matter of time before Office 2007 support is added).

Symphony forever
I cut my software teeth on Symphony while everyone else was trying out Lotus 1-2-3. It would be great to see IBM wrest control of the office suite platform from Microsoft. Especially after the way Microsoft stabbed IBM in the back when they were developing OS2 "together".

How compatible is it with Lotus SmartSuite?
