email clutter
In addition to the spam filter on my server, I've added a spam filter called SPAMBATES (C:\Program Files\SpamBayes\docs\outlook\about.html) to Outlook. Spambayes is teachable - it learns what I consider spam by what I direct to which of 3 groups: Inbox, Junk suspects, and Junk. It then automatically sorts messages into these filters - becoming more efficient with time. I never lose an email, but can scan the subject lines and eliminate junk in moments.

I've had better luck with Thunderbird's rules for moving email than Outlook's. My GMail and email through my ISP just zip to their proper folders.

ruthlessly apply the following 2 rules
1. At end of the day, your inbox should be clear
2. to judge emails, apply the 5 D principle: DO, DONT, DELAY, DELEGATE, DELETE.
if its do, then do, if dont, reply and delete, if delay, put in a reminder in tasks, if delegate, then forward, and delete.
but end of the day, inbox has to be clear, no questions asked. -

As one of the leading consultancies in e-mail management, we suggest using Atrendia Streaming Techniques or AST. We don not know of another solution that allows you to prioritize, then plan next actions and when you will do them DIRECTLY IN YOUR INBOX. Using the New and Due view, you will filter out anything not new or due today. You can also get rid of all those "homemade" folders. AST uses an Archive and your Sent items folder for all your mails by using Categories. Contact Atrendia for more information. www.atrendia.com
