Backup is your friend!

I believe multiple approaches to backup is the only sure-fire way of protecting one's digital life. A very effective approach is to use a synchronization tool such as GoodSync (http://www.goodsync.com), Second Copy 7 (http://www.centered.com)that automates backup to external storage both at home and in the office, bolstered by monthly (or however frequently deemed necessary) snapshot backups onto CD/DVD.
