    NeoOffice for Mac

You can run OpenOffice on a Mac under X11, but there is a better way. NeoOffice is based on OpenOffice, but it has the normal Mac Aqua interface (Agua is the name of the usual Mac application style. It is not aqua in color.) They are always a version behind, because they have some work to do to make it look like a Mac app.
NeoOffice can do for Microsoft Office for Mac users what Microsoft does not do: NeoOffice can read Microsoft Office (Windows) 2008 files. Microsoft keeps delaying the plugins for Mac users to read those with Microsoft Office for Mac.
It works very well, even on an older G5 1.8GHz processor. There is a slightly slow feel to it, but if you have more time than money, it is not a problem.
