...you may want to consider the Acappella Conference Audio Recorder which records in CD quality sound and reduces the time and cost of transcription by telling the typist the name of each person as they speak.

As a writer, I use a tape style tape-recorder for interviews and then transcribe the tape. During transcription I often have to go back in forth in short bursts to catch what's being said. Can you control the playback speed on the recorder and go back and forth slowly?

I don't know if this player has that capability, but after you copied the recordings back to your PC, any number of media players would let you do exactly that.
