It's absolutely absurd. Perhaps the PEOPLE will decide he deserve nothing and create his real demise.

Why don't we put the "payout" packages of these
crooks up to a vote of the American people? It
is our money that has bailed them out, right?
Only then will justice prevail. -

55% of the bailout money alotted to AIG is going to pay for his incompetence, that's ridiculous....! I'm afraid that's what all the bailout money is going to do, OHH excuse me, "rescue package".

the go to jail comments are way overboard; however, rescinding the payout 100% is something that should've and could've been done, because if AIG had been allowed go insolvent, Sullivan may have been only a general creditor and unlikely to collect any of the payout. This is because, as an officer of the company, he may not have been considered an employee and the payout, thus not wages owed to an employee.

what kind of country do we live in where an incompetent CEO gets paid $68M for dropping the ball! I own a small business, if I drop the ball, i pay the price. So should these big execs..

It is appalling that these companies actually pay their CEOs when they fail. As the article said that he was 'kicked out of office' and the company 'paid out $1.64 billion for fraud and bid-rigging issues', yet the man gets a $68M severance check?
I'm no mathematician, but those figures just don't seem to add up. Would anyone care to prove the logic here? -

Fill-up, there is no logic in it. Would could be the possible logic of paying someone, anyone, $68M??? Good grief! The largest insurer in the world going belly-up is an alarming wake up call for everyone that some serious changes need to be made, and not just at AIG.

This was done on Greenberg's watch as much as we'd ike to blame Sullivan. They let the loose cannon in London ruin the ship! I thought an insurance company was about measuring risk.

Too many knee-jerk reactions punishing the symptoms rather than addressing the root cause. In our world of increasing reliance on sound-bites, we seem reluctant to invest the time in root cause analysis. AIG was in a bad state before Sullivan took over as CEO.
