  As a sales Professional who values and respects what I do for a living I resent the comparison of selling like a Porn star.
  
  A sales professional helps organizations become better at what they do. They demonstrate high morals, ethics, and standards and are trusted by companies and people as someone they can respect and believe in.
  
  Although it maybe Hard work (no pun intended) for this porn star who get a lay up every day, it has nothing to do with a Sales Professional and it is a discredit to all of us who have worked to distance ourselves from this kind of sloppy association.

  Morals

  You're confusing sexual immorality with business ethics.
  
  To my mind, making sex movies is far less offensive than the way that some companies screw over employees and investors.
  
  What happened at Enron was far more obscene than anything the porn industry could ever concoct.
  
  Stealing the retirement money from little old ladies is true evil in action. A sex film is just naked people and boisterous behavior.
  
  Get some perspective.

  I can understand the self righteous individual who objects to being compared to a porn star. However, I believe he missed the point of the article.
  
  Who you become and how successful you are depends on a number of factors, not the least of which is persistence and guts. So many now famous writers, for example, suffered rejection after rejection before breaking through.
  
  Stories abound regarding the unshakeable faith some individuals had in themselves who overcame impossible odds to win.
  
  Sylvester Stylone persevered untill he got to star in Rocky.
  
  The point is, if you want it enough, believe in yourself and are willing to learn, nothing is impossible, even selling professionally.

  Product versus process.

  You're confusing the product with the process. Regardless of the product, the principles of selling remain the same.
  
  The mainstream business press is full of articles touting the intelligence and wisdom of CEOs who sell products that kill people or who are secretly subcontracting to factories in China that pollute the countryside and create horribly diseased babies.
  
  Entire segments of American business are dependent upon third world slave labor and child labor, and you're all upset because a guy who makes sex movies has something intelligent to say about selling??

  Whoa whoa whoa...

  A friend sent this to me and at first I got a good chuckle at the title and the focal point of it. But if the author had used Warren Buffet as the key antagonist, everyone would be touting the sound advice. Whether or not we want to respect the career choices Ron Jeremy has made is irrelevant. His advice is sound. I can't think of a single sales training session I've been to that hasn't included at least some of Jeremy's points. Persistence, Patience, Hustle...The fact is that he's right. And even if none of us aspire to be the most recognizable porn star, I think most of us aspire to be the most recognizable sales pro in our field, territory, etc. In that sense, it's apples to apples.

  The only reason why Sly made it, is because he took the initiative to make his own movie, and star in it. Has anyone read the credits?? He had guts to go out there and make his hard work happen, all by himself... no one 'discovered' him.

  anyone think Ron Jeremy would have been successful
  without a large penis? BNET, what the hell were you
  thinking putting something like this up on your site? He was

  people liked to watch it. Hindsight is 20/20 and it's easy for
  anyone to list off six reason of why they are successful at
  something but the bottom line is pretty basic in this case.
