A Excellent Future for Us
"We live in interesting times." As a baby boomer, and one with many years of financial services experience, the shock of being downsized did not come as a surprise to me. Technologies were moving a such a fast paced, while the average boomer was busy planning a luxurious retirement with little thoughts about tomorrow.
However, for many, tomorrow came a lot sooner then it should have. The jobs being exported into China, India, and other countries are jobs that were created in the Industrial Age. Labor intensive, semi-mindless, and barely paying any real money, I'm glad they are gone.
Therefore, what's being left behind? Jobs created for the "Information Age." Techonologies are taking a new hold in America, and Americans need to stand up to the new challenges. We need to put away the hammer, and pick up the laptop. We need to put away the yesterdays, and take up the tomorrows.
As a baby boomer, I have returned to school. I'm after the bigger degrees, and the bigger opportunities. And China, enjoy the sweats. -

RE: Average U.S. Wages Going -- China Growing
I worked for the # 3 employer in the world , and watched 2500 people including myself ( after 23 years) lose USA employment to the non USA (outsourced)companies. The american dream of working hard for one employer and being able to retire are a thing of the past. Now days people only hope of staying with the same employer for more then 5 years. Look in history books at the car and steel industries ,that is the only place you will see (what used to be) a real "MADE IN THE USA product.
