Great insights and the tactics align with my personal mission of beginning with the end in mind. As we focus on our legacy it can guide the choices we make along the journey. Imagine if more leaders engaged in this type of introspection, we could actually solve a few problems in industry and life.

    Point missed with Nobel

When looking at the four points discussed in the first half of
the article I would concur only with the first one, the following
two are highly debatable (one could well argue there are
good reasons of doing exactly what is said not to be done),
but the fourth point is completely missed.
Not only does ?buying love? work splendidly (in the long run -
that is what we are talking about when saying ?legacy?), the
example given is the worst possible. From all those than
know about the Nobel prize and think highly of it, only a small
part actually knows that Alfred Nobel invented dynamite and
an infinitesimal part gives a damn about the fact it indirectly
helped killing people. That because those that know the
entire history are aware that the main goal Nobel had
working with nitroglycerine (an industrial explosive at the
time) was making it more safe for civil engineering
purposes; it was not his fault the military commandeered the
invention (although his company earned money on that, too).
Besides, Nobel did not set the trust to buy public love, he did
it to appease his own conscience.
Another example of how buying love works well is the
Carnegie Hall - everybody knows about the great things that
are done there, almost nobody remember that Carnegie, an
?industrial baron? was, even by the parameters of his time,
    actually considered a ?robber baron?.
