  Really like the idea, but echo the "resumes" comment, whereby I would be greatly interested in how traditional defense companies may take a different approach to the regular staff meeting. Our company conducts offsites, which are intensive, lend to indepth discussion of topics, as well as socializing and networking opps. I would be interested to see what other companies do.

  Maximizing Meetings

  At Moore Consulting Group, Tallahassee, FL we have instituted an electronic update system for staff meetings where each person submits short bulleted updates on client activity by the end of day each Thursday. On Friday the combined Client Activity List is posted on the server and everyone is sent the link to the document (saving paper printouts.) Early Monday morning at our regular staff meeting there is an opportunity to make inquiry or get clarification regarding the client activity list if necessary, maintaining our meeting time to focus on any other items of importance or requiring attention.

  I conduct the same principle of line up meeting every week either friday or monday for my dept. we will just either line up things for the week (monday) for each of us to do or wrap up things for the week (friday); each one of us must learn how to speak short (summarise) that was been very effective to send msgs accross. Any elaborate and details, should be followed up one-to-one basis. Meetings should be less than 30 mins. infact the between 15-20 mins is the best.

  I'm sure those managers are REAL excited about spending their Saturdays at meetings! and I'm sure Wal-Mart comps them for the time! Give me a break!!!
