Question-and-Answer Session

[Operator Instructions]. Your first question comes from the line Jon Wood from Banc of America Securities. Please proceed, sir.

Jon D. Wood - Banc of America Securities

Thanks a lot. David you talked about it qualitatively. Can you possibly cheese out what price added in the quarter?

David F. Hoffmeister - Chief Financial Officer and Senior Vice President of Finance

We basically.

Unidentified Company Representative

Revenue or gross margins?

David F. Hoffmeister - Chief Financial Officer and Senior Vice President of Finance

Are you talking revenue or gross margins?

Jon D. Wood - Banc of America Securities

Well, should be the same right, I mean revenue?

David F. Hoffmeister - Chief Financial Officer and Senior Vice President of Finance

You know we've raised we've said in the past that we've raised prices for the last several years. We've experienced about a price increase of a couple of points from those efforts. As I said price increased when in its beginning of January in the U.S. and Europe. We expect the price increase to go in April, in Japan and I said Bernd experience previously that we try to hold that price but we see some of that dwindle off as the year goes on. But that's far we've been quite successful in our price increases.

Jon D. Wood - Banc of America Securities

So would you characterize it as more sticky maybe this year due to the ERP visibility you have or is it about the same as it has, was last year?

Gregory T. Lucier - Chairman and Chief Executive Officer

John this Greg Lucier, maybe I'll inject I would say that our process of updating the list prices has gotten far more efficient and pinpointed. In terms of stickiness, I think we are better this year at making price increases, have more robust impact on our financials. Now, having said that I'd also say in 2008 that this point of being more pinpointed is that we are not just only increasing prices. We also in a very I think conscious way try to increase the value we are delivering depending on the number or the type of excuse. So, certain number of our products is actually gone down in price, others have gone up where we have may be more of a apparent position the overall blended impact of the couple of points of price increase though.
