And our first question comes from Mike Urban with Deutsche Bank.
Mike Urban - Deutsche Bank
Thanks. Good morning, guys.
Ken White
Good morning.
Mike Urban - Deutsche Bank
So, just wanted to kind of clarify going forward the issues in the quarter, international had declined. Was that entirely as you had expected? I mean you expected some or is that worse than you thought?
Jeff Tepera
I think the North Sea was a little worse than we anticipated; some work got shoved back a little bit. But again, it goes back to levels where we were in the third quarter. So, it's probably a little worse than anticipated, but it wasn't that unexpected.
The other international areas had a strong performance. They actually increased 18% sequentially. We saw increases in all other international areas: Saudi, Egypt, Brazil as well as Canada. The pull-back in North Sea was a little bit more than anticipated. And we just saw some work get moved and actually get shoved more towards the second half of the year.
Mike Urban - Deutsche Bank
Okay. So, the North Sea stuff they were covering there is more a second half in the second quarter. Is that fair enough?
Ken White
Yes, it's more of a second half in the second quarter.
Mike Urban - Deutsche Bank
Okay. And on the CapEx, the increase in the CapEx, you mentioned some opportunities in the drilling side of the business. Is that related to the acquisition you made or is that a separate set of opportunities?
Ken White
It's a little of both.
Ernesto Bautista
A portion of it, probably about 30% of it, maybe, well, about 40% of it is related directly to the acquisition we just did, building more jars. We have a great management team that we acquired there. That's very aggressive, and they've been adding some additional personnel there and taking some market share.
And that was our overall plan with that acquisition was to build it significantly over the next couple of years.
In addition to that, sequentially, we went up almost about 22% in rental tools, and we are essentially all out on the land side as well as offshore on the rental side of business. Therefore, we are acquiring some more drill pipe, primarily related to the land side of the business.
Our expansion to the Rockies could not be going any better. And essentially, we are all out up there today, and we will be actually expanding some satellite locations up there over the course of next couple of quarters.
