PC device maker Logitech is buying video conferencing firm LifeSize Communications for USD405m in a bid to drive growth of its video communications tools. Logitech produces PC mice, keyboards, game controllers and webcams, and claims it will use LifeSize’s expertise to extend HD video-calling beyond desktop use.

LifeSize is a competitor to Tandberg, a Norwegian video conferencing firm recently bought by Cisco. The deal could spur competition between Logitech and Cisco.
