Nokia, SAP and Giesecke & Devrient (G&D) are set to form Original1, a joint venture geared at providing authentication and anti-counterfeiting services. Original1 is expected to begin operations by the end of the year and will be headed by SAP research's current VP Claudia Alsdorf.
The joint venture will combine SAP's technology with Nokia's mobile authentication software, allowing firms to track the life-cycle of their products. G&D will provide security services. Alsdorf describes Original1 as "a one-stop shop for companies seeking secure services that protect them from counterfeiting, safeguard the value of their brands, and help them develop a more transparent way of working to become more sustainable."
