Xerox is boosting its services business with the acquisition of process outsourcing firm Affiliated Computer Services for USD6.4bn. The move will combine Xerox's document management services with Affiliated to create a USD22bn operation.
The deal is part of Xerox's attempts to become a services provider after establishing itself as one of the best-known printer companies in the world. The move reflects a trend for large IT hardware and software providers such as IBM and Microsoft to refocus their efforts on expanding into the market for IT services.
