France Telecom-owned UK operator Orange may be set to partner with Blyk, an ad-supported mobile virtual network operator (MVNO). The deal would likely allow young people to receive USD25 in credit in exchange for watching advertising on their phones.
Blyk’s initial plan was to launch as an independent MVNO in the UK. However, the firm decided in May to focus on partnering with operators. Orange would be Blyk’s first partner.
Virgin Mobile USA already offers a similar service called Sugar Mama, where users get free minutes of airtime in exchange for viewing ads online.
