US mobile operator AT&T is launching Motorola’s new Karma phone, aimed at consumers interested in text messaging, instant messaging and social networking via Facebook and MySpace. The device also features a miniature qwerty keyboard.
Motorola has struggled to regain market share after its sales dropped in recent years. However, shares went up USD0.18 following the announcement. The handset, which has access to AT&T's 3G network, will launch on June 28 selling for USD79.99.
AT&T has also extended a supply deal with Alcatel-Lucent to provide network equipment for U-verse television and its high-speed internet service, which is being expanded around the country.
