Google-backed personal genetics firm raises USD11m – Rumour

California-based 23andMe has raised USD11m of a USD24.3m Series B funding round from undisclosed investors, according to peHUB. The firm received Series A funding from investors including Google. The company uses DNA analysis technologies and web-based tools to enable individuals to understand their genetic information. Founded in 2006, 23andMe is the work of Linda Avey and Anne Wojcicki, wife of Google co-founder, Sergey Brin.

The firm raised USD9m in Series A funding from Google, Genentech, New Enterprise Associates and Mohr Davidow Ventures.
