Google CEO Eric Schmidt says Google would be ?happy? to work with micro-blogging platform Twitter to incorporate advertising into the service. Schmidt made the remarks during Google’s Q1 earnings call, in which the company announced increased profits but a slight dip in revenues.
The news suggests Schmidt’s views on Twitter have changed since describing the site as a ?poor man’s email? system, earlier this year.
Rumours began to circulate earlier this month that Google was in takeover talks with Twitter. However, Twitter co-founder Biz Stone played down the idea in blog post in which he emphasised the importance of remaining an ?independent? company. Stone has said before that he is not interested in buyout offers, though he is keen to form partnerships with major internet firms.
Google recently lost their top designer, Doug Bowman, to Twitter.
