Casual gaming company PopCap Games is acquiring game developer Gastronaut Studios for an undisclosed sum.The Seattle-based companies are former collaborators on Feeding Frenzy 2.
Gastronaut will retain rights over its existing titles. PopCap will gain the studio’s assets, technology and staff.
Gastronaut specialises in downloadable games for the Xbox Live Arcade It made Fuzzee Fever, the gaming platform’s first exclusive title, and the critically acclaimed Small Arms.
PopCap makes casual games for almost all platforms except the Nintendo Wii, including PCs and Macs. The company says users have downloaded its games more than 1bn times.
