FORA.tv, a video site focusing on politics and economics, has raised USD4m in a Series A funding round from investors including return backers Adobe Ventures and William Randolph Hearst III. The site collates and organises video content from intellectuals, think-tanks, universities and other bodies, sorting the content into topical channels and allowing users to personalise their viewing tastes to access relevant content. The funding brings total investment in the site to USD6m, following a seed round last Oct.
FORA.tv aggregates private and public footage from symposiums and conferences, as well as specific video addresses, and is billed as an online video service for intellectuals, with an emphasis on providing information of use to corporate viewers who are encouraged to purchase sponsorships on the site. Every video featured on FORA is broken down into three-minute episodes and indexed and the company expects to make profit through advertising, sponsorships and licensing of its video player.
