New York-based Animoto has raised USD4.4m in a funding round led by Madrona Venture Group. Amazon.com, SoftTech Venture Capital and iStockPhoto founder Bruce Livingstone also participated in the round. The firm’s web-based technology enables users to upload photos from social networks such as Facebook or their desktops, and choose accompanying music. The site then automatically generates a multimedia slideshow. Animoto claims to have 750,000 registered users and 300,000 users through its iPhone application.
