E Ink investors are reportedly opposing a deal to sell the company for USD215m to Taiwan-based manufacturer Prime View International (PVI). It is thought that the shareholders want a higher price for the company, and will try to prevent the sale when it comes up for vote. The company’s projected revenues for this year are USD110m, mainly due to the popularity of Amazon’s Kindle e-book device, for which E Ink makes vital display technology.

Some strategic investors, including Hearst, are also allegedly worried that the deal would give PVI too much power in the e-reader industry. Hearst is expected to release its own e-reader later in the year.

E Ink CEO Russ Wilcox, however, insists the deal is moving forward, with the majority of investors having agreed to the deal before it was announced.
