StumbleUpon is again in the hands of its founders after eBay offloaded the internet recommendation engine after just two years.

eBay is not disclosing the value of the deal, which saw a number of private equity firms including Accel Partners and August Capital back the bid.

The move is adding to speculation that eBay may sell internet call service Skype to its founders in a similarly funded but much larger deal.
