Music streaming service Spotify is teaming up with digital download store 7digital to offer paid downloads.

Initially, Spotify users will be able to right-click on tracks to be redirected to buy songs and albums from 7digital. However, the partners hope to offer one-click buying in the near future, as well as the ability to purchase entire playlists.

Deals with the iTunes Store and Amazon are reportedly in the early stages, but Spotify says it will work exclusively with 7digital for the immediate future.

Spotify is currently funded through a mixture of in-stream ads and ad-free paid subscriptions. The service’s founders originally envisaged earning money through paid subscriptions, but have found few users are willing to cough up for the premium service.
