Clear Channel Radio and Front Line Management will launch a new service in July that allows musicians to produce their own online radio shows. The service, dubbed a.p.e. (artist personal experience) radio, will run channels featuring songs picked by the artist, interviews and commentary. Clear Channel hopes that artists will host their own channels.
Irving Azoff, Front Line founder and CEO, says: "We feel that the old model of trying to get radio airplay and some video play is broken. We were looking for a seven-days-a-week, 24-hour artist online venture."
First on the bill to try out the new service in July are the Eagles, Christina Aguilera and Weezer.
