Picture agency Getty Images is in talks to take a controlling stake in news producer ITN, which makes news programmes for Channel 4 and ITV. Both broadcasters would retain minority stakes in the company if a deal with Getty goes ahead, according to the Royal Television Society's monthly journal, Television.
However, ITN’s GBP22.8m (USD35.8m) pension fund shortfall remains a barrier to any deal.
