CBS Interactive is in talks with UK broadcasters over a plan to launch a UK version of its online video site TV.com. The VoD platform, which was acquired from CNET for USD1.8bn last year, now hosts 20,000 TV shows and is Hulu’s main rival in the US.

However, the media company warns that its UK project will depend on partnerships with broadcasters.

"Ideally, that content has a place on TV.com but I think the UK and US are very different environments. The US is a bit more straightforward in that it's being led by TV.com and Hulu, whereas in the UK post-Kangaroo the broadcasters are still re-evaluating their plans," says product director, Geoff Inns.
