BSkyB is offering UKTV channels through its Sky Player, bringing the company’s channels to online TV for the first time.

The deal will make archive programming and current output from channels such as Gold and Eden available to Sky’s digital satellite TV subscribers.

?We decided to offer our two leading factual and entertainment brands ahead of other pay-TV channels in our portfolio because we felt they'd add breadth and variety to the Sky Player offering,? says Ben Phillis, UKTV's head of business development and platform distribution.

Sky is also adding National Geographic Wild, Sky Real Lives and Sky Movies Screen 1 and 2 to its online service, alongside the UKTV channels.

The BBC struck a deal last year with Sky to offer shows such as Doctor Who and Eastenders through the Sky Player.
