The Washington Post is teaming up with Bloomberg News to sell their articles to other news organisations. The venture will target publishers that are struggling to maintain wide coverage amid budget cuts.
The news service, which will launch on January 1, will feature 120 stories a day, together with photos, graphics and other story elements. The Post will be able to draw on Bloomberg's 1,500 reporters and editors to supplement its own staff coverage.
The news follows the Post's recent announcement of its split with the Los Angeles Times after 47 years of joint news coverage. The LA Times' owner Tribune has been operating under bankruptcy protection since December 2008, when it recorded a USD124m quarterly loss.
