Siemens buys stake in renewable energy firm

German engineering firm Siemens is paying an undisclosed sum to acquire a 25% stake in BGZ Beteiligungsgesellschaft. The firm finances, develops and operates biomass, wind and solar energy plants, and had revenues of USD71m in 2008. Through its wind energy subsidiary, WKN Windkraft Nord, BGZ has installed 730MW of wind energy capacity since 1991.

  The deal remains subject to regulatory approval.
