3 in mobile gaming deal with Buongiorno

Mobile operator 3 is outsourcing its games portal to content specialist Buongiorno. The site, which has just been launched on the web and via WAP, sells mobile games based on Java technology in the UK and Ireland.

Under the deal, Buongiorno manages the store's platform, which includes community tools and a user recommendation system. The firm will also provide digital rights management technology and in-game billing tools. The deal marks Buongiorno's first implementation of a games store since its merger with UK mobile entertainment firm iTouch last year.

Based in Italy, Buongiorno distributes mobile content in 53 countries through partnerships with around 100 mobile operators. The firm has content deals with the four major music labels, movie studios including Disney and Warner Bros, and artists such as Madonna, Christina Aguilera and 50 Cents. Last week, Buongiorno said it expects its annual revenue to fall below its previous forecast of between EUR325m (USD411.4m) to EUR335m (USD424.2m), due to the economic downturn. However, the firm says revenue will exceed EUR300m (USD379.8m) this financial year. EBITDA is expected at between EUR35m (USD44.4m) and EUR40m (USD50.7m), the company says.
