Despair Inc.™: Problem Employees? It’s Not You, It’s Them

Leading satirist Dr. E.L. Kersten, author of “The Art of Demotivation,” shows how to manage three types of problem employees. Whether you’re dealing with the “perpetually offended employee,” the “aggrieved superstar,” or the “egomaniac,” the answer is simple: they need to be grateful for what they have.

Speaker: Dr. E.L. Kersten, Co-Founder & COO, Despair Inc.

    Brilliant, accurate and necessary.

    Not the main problem

While such employees are in the business world, they are by no means the personality types that are the MAIN problem employees as this video implies.

The main problem is deliberately hostile employees. The second problem is management that doesn't know how to deal with these people issues.

    Spot On

It is always almost impossible to know whether Kersten has his tongue in his cheek or not. (Got to love the Demotivators poster and mug included in the video.)

There are some senior managers who think that everyone always needs to look in the mirror for the problem. This is a much more rational approach. And, if they really want to demotivate employees, they should read the book first.

Right timing or bad timing ?

Is this the time that is apt or very silly and absolutely wrong timing to demotivate employees ?

Employers can take this now as a reason to put forward when they start to fire employees in a climate of downsizing and cost cutting - given the air that prevails over the globe on the current bearish market and closedown of dinosaurs that once ruled the Earth. What a pity. You are not a satirist. You are a sadist.
