    Not sure this was really the first social network. I was using once called Firefly in 1996 about music and movies. With the usual stuff: user profiles, message boards, private messages, comments......

    They got acquired by Launch which of course became part of Yahoo. And actually to get users quickly, Yahoo partnered with Firefly and converted all Firefly IDS to yahoo ones.
